We’ll keep today’s article brief so that all the dads out there, including me, can get back to enjoying Father’s Fay.

There was a mix of good news and bad news this past week. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate came in just below estimates which kept the market incrementally moving upward. The bad news was that ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran escalated into mutual air strikes. As a result, aerospace & defense and energy stocks rose while airline and travel-related stocks dipped along with the major indexes. You can check out a few of those tickers here at UVstocks.io: RTX, LMT, UAL, DAL.

How much volatility will the escalating conflict add to our current climate? It’s hard to say. But it’s prudent to expect more uncertainty for the markets to deal with. When Russia initiated an attack on Ukraine leading to an all out war, the markets roiled like they did last week but then eventually leveled off. But there weren’t nuclear implications like there are today. And U.S. involvement was kept more at an arm’s length unlike the current situation where Israel and the U.S. are tightly coupled toward a common goal to eliminate Iran’s nuclear development efforts. Should things continue to escalate, a broader scale war could lead to a global recession.

Bottomline, we’re not out of the woods quite yet, so stay the course, putting one foot in front of the other as you march through the forest of uncertainty.
